Bio
I was born and raised the Northeast-Ohio city of Youngstown and received my undergraduate degree from The University of Kentucky in Lexington. I moved to Asheville in May of 2008 and began working in advertising. I soon realized that being behind a desk was not my thing, and decided to turn my desire to help people into a career. I quit my job and put myself through the fire academy at AB-Tech, and I am now proud to call myself a Firefighter for the City of Asheville Fire Department. I have an amazing wife, Maxy, and a crazy dog named Josey. In our free time we enjoy mountain biking, hiking, and tasting the fruits of the Beer City.
Athletic/Health Experience
I played high school football and was on the golf team for a season, but athleticism fell by the wayside for most of my time at Kentucky. Mountain biking became a hobby of mine toward the end of college, and quickly turned to an obsession when I moved to Asheville. I started riding after work every day, and would spend most weekends bouncing from Bent Creek to Pisgah to DuPont.
In 2011, I started doing CrossFit-ish workouts on my own at one of the local box gyms based on WODS from the main site. My goal then was to prepare myself for the rigorous physical routine I knew I would encounter in the fire academy. In rookie school, we were fortunate enough for CrossFit Asheville to donate their space to us for our daily physical training. However, after rookie school was finished I found myself dying to get back in a box. I found CrossFit to be the most effective way to prepare myself for my profession. I joined the CrossFit Pisgah family in January of 2013 and cannot imagine being anywhere else.
